On behalf of ITA, I would like to extend our deepest concern and heartiest wishes to all our friends and colleagues affected by the new coronavirus in our member organizations during these difficult and challenging times.
Facing such a serious health issue across the world, ITA stands in solidarity with ITA member nations and fully supports your determined efforts to counter the spread of the new coronavirus. I firmly believe that we will manage this situation together and countries affected will quickly overcome and recover from this epidemic.
I wish you and all the people in your country good health and a swift end to the new coronavirus outbreak. We stand by you.

2019 GENERAL ASSEMBLY – NAPLES
The International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association held its forty-fifth General Assembly in Naples, Italy, from 3 to 9 May 2019, in conjunction with the World Tunnel Congress 2019 ” Tunnels and Underground Cities: Engineering and Innovation meet Archaeology, Architecture and Art” organized by ITA and the Società Italiana Gallerie (SIG).
More than 2500 delegates participated in the Congress. 62 of the 78 Member Nations participated or were represented in the General Assembly.
During the 45th General Assembly in Naples, the ITA approved the creation of a new working group called Shaft Design and Construction. 16 individuals from 8 countries participated in the first Working Group 23 meeting, facilitated by Siamak Hashemi and Joe Lux, Animateur and Vice-Animateur, respectively. ITA Tunnelling Awards: 71 valid entries collected
On November 18th 2019, the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association is organizing in Miami (Fl), the 5th edition of its ITA Tunnelling Awards, an international competition seeking to recognize and reward the most ground-breaking achievements and innovations in underground infrastructures worldwide. A productive meeting for the ITA-CET Committee in Naples
The ITA’s Committee on Education and Training met in Naples on 7th May within the scope of the 2019 World Tunnel Congress.
